About Me
Hi, I'm Amila Hewagama, a software developer from the beautiful shores of Sri Lanka. Traveling across the island inspires my photography. Although my profession is in software, capturing landscapes is my true passion. Over the past decade, this hobby has transformed me. I excel at turning ordinary scenes into extraordinary art. When I click my camera, it's not just a photo – it's a snapshot of my feelings about the world.
In 2019, I did something new by creating a website called landscapesphotographymagazine.com. The Landscape Photography Magazine serves as a dedicated platform to elevate the recognition and popularity of Sri Lankan landscape photography. I wanted to show off how amazing Sri Lankan landscapes are through photography.
I've crafted my own approach to capturing the beauty of Sri Lanka through landscape photography. The island's allure has led me to spend considerable time perfecting my unique way of preserving its charm. I particularly enjoy photographing waterfalls, which are abundant in the lush forests and valleys of Sri Lanka, resembling precious jewels.
I am the first photographer in Sri Lanka to choose photos for the gallery named "World's Best Photographers and Artists". I've been able to include pictures of Sri Lankan landscapes in that gallery many times. It's a moment in my photography journey that fills me with great pride.
I've nominated the world's finest 200 photos for the daytime Landscape category in the 7th edition of the 35AWARDS. I have been chosen for the best featured landscape photo multiple times in various international forums.
Collaboration and Community
One of the most rewarding aspects of my photography journey has been the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse and international community. Over the past five years, I have joined hands with fellow photographers, artists, and enthusiasts from around the world. This collaborative spirit has not only enriched my craft but has also allowed me to see the world through a kaleidoscope of perspectives. Together, we have embarked on creative projects, shared insights, and celebrated the universal language of visual storytelling.
